Heather McCorkle

Heather has been a Sacramento resident since the age of 6. She enjoyed a career in customer service for more than 16 years.

Heather started her career with East Lawn in 2015. Although she thought she would be a Veterinarian or an Entomologist because of her love of critters big or small, 2 legs or 8; after completing her class Psychology of Death and Dying she knew her calling was serving families in this industry.

She and her high school sweetheart - turned husband – have 1 son named Tristan.

In her free time she enjoys painting with her son, watching black and white movies, camping and taking regular trips to Disneyland.

Jane Filetic

Family Service Counselor
photo

After a 20-year career in the financial services industry, Jane was in search of a new endeavor allowing her to interact with individuals and families on a personal level. She was offered an opportunity to do exactly that in Monterey, California when she became a family service counselor for The Paul Mortuary.

After learning the funeral services industry over an eight year period on the central coast, she authored and published the book, "'Getting Smart About Death" available on Amazon and at www.gettingsmartaboutdeath.com In this easy-to-read 100-page guide, she offers insight and guidance on both pre-need and at-need arrangements for those who seek it.

Late in 2014, Jane moved back to Sacramento where her immediate family resides. That is when she joined the East Lawn staff, first as an outside sales counselor at Sierra Hills and then as a family service counselor in our downtown office.

Jessie started the funeral & cemetery profession at the young age of just 15 years old. She started work at her local cemetery where she rode her bike to and from work every day, rain or shine, for 6 years. Her duties included general maintenance of the cemetery as well as operating the backhoe for digging interment sites and other construction needs. She was the first and only woman to sustain a position on a crew with 5 men and had no limits on her abilities. After years of being on the grounds, Jessie loved helping others and decided she wanted to make a career in the funeral profession. Jessie enrolled in the Mortuary Science Program at American River College and graduated with an Associates in Arts and Science.

Jessie was hired on with East Lawn on Greenback Lane in January of 2011 as a night and weekend clerk. In April of the same year, she was promoted to full-time Receptionist. In October 2014 she was promoted to Secretary, and finally, in April of 2015, she was promoted to Funeral Director. In March of 2019, Jessie sought out and earned a position at our new East Lawn East Sacramento Mortuary on Folsom Boulevard, where she looks forward to growing and succeeding with East Lawn in the years to come. What Jessie loves most about her career, is the interaction and bonding relationships she gets with the families she serves. She believes an appropriate sense of humor, great customer service, integrity, authenticity, and empathy are keys to success in her position.

Prior to moving to Sacramento, Jerry lived 20 years in the San Francisco Bay area working for 5 different cemeteries and 7 mortuaries. Jerry experienced many changes and developments, as well as ownership and managerial changes, during that time in the funeral profession.

Jerry believes that informing, educating and keeping costs in perspective for a family's budget, as well as honesty and a practical approach, best helps a family in their decision making process and is also key for success in the mortuary and cemetery profession. Pre-arrangements are an important tool for both families and the mortuary or cemetery in achieving a successful relationship.

When she had an opportunity to be closer to family, she moved to Granite Bay. In 2014 she began working at East Lawn and is still doing what she loves best. Helping families with pre-need arrangements is something that has a special place in her heart. She does her best with patience and compassion to also help families in the area of at-need arrangements as well. Bonnie Alexander

East Lawn has been part of my working career since 1977 when I was employed as administrative assistant to the executive vice president of the Interment Association of California [now the Cemetery and Mortuary Association of California], the California Mortuary Alliance and the Western Cemetery Alliance. My working with the memberships, industry lobbyists, meeting planning and visitations to cemeteries and mortuaries throughout California and the western states made me appreciate the fact that East Lawn was, and continues to be, a respected leader in the industry. In 2006 Alan Fisher honored me with an invitation to participate in the newly formed East Lawn Advisory Board.

Because of family obligations, having the option of working on a part-time basis is especially gratifying for me. Three grandchildren, and of course their parents, are the joys of my life. Being part of an industry that is dedicated to caring for people in difficult, and often tragic, times is a rewarding experience. Working with the caring staff at East Lawn Elk Grove, sharing difficult circumstances while yet being able to laugh and embrace the good is such a blessing.
